Top Seven Sci-Fi Hottest Actresses

Top Seven Lists

Seven

Why seven? We could make up a crazy theory about how we love prime numbers here, or of our intense respect for Terry Nation's vision in Blake's 7, but that would just be a lie. Basically it's just that we're too lazy to do all the work of a top ten list. And since 70% is still passing for most schools, we went with that.

Hottest Actresses

The following opinions are by Larry Coffey

Number Seven - Alessandra Torresani

Born: May 29, 1987
Notable role: Zoe Graystone, Caprica
Alessandra Torresani

Ms Torresani represents the new class of Science Fiction actresses in what hopefully will be the first of many roles. In Caprica, she plays the unhappy teenage daughter of the scientist who unwittingly creates the first Cylons. Through a series of tragic accidents, her virtual reality consciousness is fused into one of the robot warriors.

She plays the role with such grace and beauty, we can't wait to see what her bright future must bring to her.

Number Six - Lexa Doig

Born: June 8, 1973
Notable role: Dr. Leah Pearlman, V
Notable role: Dr. Carolyn Lam, Stargate
Notable role: Andromeda Ascendant, Andromeda
Notable role: Cowgirl, TekWar
Lexa Doig

Ms Doig may be the hottest actress nobody ever heard of. She has made numerous guest appearances on shows like Eureka, Earth: Final Conflict, and The 4400. She seems to have made a career of being the brainy, sexy friend or assistant to the main star(s).

Whatever she's doing, it's working. Her hotness lands her at number six on this list and we're thinking that maybe, just maybe, it's time for someone to cast her in a starring role!

Number Five - Lucy Lawless

Born: March 29, 1968
Notable role: D'Anna Biers, Battlestar Galactica
Notable role: Xena, Xena: Warrior Princess
Lucy Lawless

What would a countdown of the hottest actresses be without Lucy Lawless on the list?

Yes, she was Xena, but the Fantasy role she played there hardly qualifies as Science Fiction. No, she's on this list because of her role as the bitchy Cylon on Battlestar Galactica. And maybe because we remember her Xena role too. Shh!

Regardless, Ms Lawless is one hot, talented actress that we hope to see more of in the future!

Number Four - Summer Glau

Born: July 24, 1981
Notable role: Bennett Halverson, Dollhouse
Notable role: Cameron Phillips, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
Notable role: River Tam, Firefly/Serenity
Summer Glau

She's played an escaped psychologically abused prisoner, a cyborg with a limited understanding of human emotion, and a deranged, vengeful scientist. We wonder if Ms Glau will ever get a normal, human role at some point.

It doesn't matter, though. She plays each role spectacularly. We look forward to her next role, whatever she portrays, be it man or machine.

Number Three - Claudia Black

Born: October 11, 1972
Notable role: Vala Mal Doran, Stargate
Notable role: Sharon Montgomery, Pitch Black
Notable role: Aeryn Sun, Farscape
Claudia Black

Who doesn't remember her introduction to us as Vala on Stargate? And then who didn't envy Daniel Jackson just a bit as they tangled aboard that alien spaceship. (If you have no idea what we're talking about, watch Season 8, Episode 12 of SG-1, entitled Prometheus Unbound.)

Before that, in Ms Black's FarScape role, she was even more cantankerous, portraying a renegade Peacekeeper officer. She kicked butt there too.

Whatever role she found herself in, Ms Claudia Black always brought the proper mixture of ruggedness and femininity that made her über-sexy. For that, she lands at number three on this list.

Number Two - Jessica Alba

Born: April 28, 1981
Notable role: Sue Storm, Fantastic Four
Notable role: Max Guevara, Dark Angel
Jessica Alba

Before she ran around in a skintight body suit when she wasn't being invisible, Ms Alba played an ultra-skilled kick-ass genetically-enhanced escaped military experiment in a post-apocalyptic northwestern United States. She, and her band of mutants, would try to keep one step ahead of the authorities while helping those less fortunate than themselves.

Despite the shaky plot premise — one electro-magnetic pulse would destroy the U.S. — and the obvious anti-government theme — there are secret labs experimenting on children — the T.V. series had one outstanding feature: Ms Jessica Alba. Seeing her kick butt each week made the attempt at overly-clichéd syndicated cyberpunk almost worthwhile.

And to think, she did all that as a teen. Now, her hotness has grown and matured. She seems to be focused more on full-length motion pictures these days. However, we look forward with eager anticipation to her next foray into Science Fiction!

Number One - Morena Baccarin

Born: June 2, 1979
Notable role: Anna, V
Notable role: Adira, Stargate
Notable role: Inara Serra, Firefly/Serenity
Morena Baccarin

Whose jaw didn't drop the first scene that introduced her on Firefly? She was wonderfully exotic, absolutely drop-dead gorgeous, and ultra-feminine in her role as a companion. The class and grace she carried even when someone was belittling her choice of profession made her all that more special. You could almost imagine yourself gathering up your life savings just to spend one glorious evening with Inara Serra.

Of course, not all of her roles have been sweet and tender. Her Stargate role showed that she could play the bad guy and still come off super sexy.

And then, of course, there was the first scene in the V television series remake where her smiling face looks down from the Visitor ships. Stunning. Ms Baccarin's hair, now trimmed, did not take away from her beauty one iota. For this, and reasons too numerous to list here, we place her at number one on this list!
